Celestial Eye Goldfish

I just bought my new fish tank, a 10 gallon. And I bought Goober (a Celestial Goldfish aka Stargazer). He is doing just fine it with two fiddler crabs (Moe and Marty). Honestly I thought he'd be upside down after going from a small tank into a big one but, he's doing good! He keeps on going around like the usual ones do, and being himself, and eating when he needs to. The crabs do the same.

I will be doing a complete make over on the tank and doing a very very cool setup. I'll be adding more fish like a another Stargazer and a few frogs, bettas, and lion heads too. Probably also with help, I wanna make it a brackish fish tank, and add a black finned shark or eels. Some feeders too, besides the guppies I have as well. If any help with these fish combinations please let me know, and all help will be taken as great help for me.
MnMatty2507

View the full article

When I got her she was only 1.5 inches, now she is 13 inches. I now have her in a 145 gallon tank. I cannot find any tank mates she won't eat or kill. She is a very picky eater, the only thing I can get her to eat is crayfish and frozen whole shrimp. Very interesting fish though.
jesse

View the full article

Pangasius Catfish

I adopted a pangasius catfish that was originally about 15 inches and 12 years old. She was in a 210 gal tank and would freak out and jump out of the much to small tank, leaving a massive mess behind her. I brought her home and put her in an agricultural tub while looking for a more suitable home for her. My family fell in love with her and when I finally found an affordable 500 gallon tank I bought it right away. The only problem, it wouldn't fit in the basement. Guess what, now we are currently in our new home (with bilco doors to the basement - yes we moved for the fish) and Rebuttal is in her 500 gallon tank. She is happy as can be and is now about 27 inches, so we will be looking for another bigger tank for her in the future.
Kim

View the full article

I don't want to use filtration, so I wanted to keep just a few gold fish. I started out with 4 6" fish last spring; but I now have an additional 15 3" fish and dozens of 1". I guess I was successful at creating a perfect breeding pond. I have 2 questions. Is there anything you can do to diminish breeding, and what do you do with unwanted fish?
sue wolf

View the full article

Fantail Goldfish

In 8 days from now it will be a year since I bought my goldfish. When I bought them I started out with 2 fantails a calico named george (who I now think is a girl) and an all off-white one. At first the white one would chase and seemed to batter george and within a couple of days the white one passed away. I'm not too sure what happened so I waited a couple of weeks and bought george another playmate and just as soon as before, I woke up and the second one was belly up. It was then I decided george was my one and only! Although I would have loved to have 2 fish it seemed 1 was enough for now. George has grown so much and has become a family member. He is absolutely beautiful and so friendly. He knows who I am and goes all crazy when he sees me, it feels great when he/she does that. George's tail is very long, I think show quality, but I'm not too sure how to get into that. I would say they make wonderful pets with proper care and nutrition. George is a wonderful little fish and I hope I have him for at least a little while longer. I would highly recommend them and think they do make people very happy!
kat

View the full article

Within a few days he/she started laying on his side. But, otherwise seems fine. I'm thinking this is a swin bladder problem. Is there anything I can do for him to help him recover?
Thanks,

While not aggressive, he did keep some annoying Red Glass Barbs in line and became the peace keeper of the tank. He was one of the nicest fish in my tank. Unfortunately, I lost him when the filter in my tank malfunctioned and although I would love to replace him, I have not been able to find any wet pet stores in my area (Genesee County, Michigan) who carry Bolivian Rams.
C. They are a forced pair but I DO NOT recommend that. They also share their tank with a salvini, a red devil, and a convict. Needless to say a large tank is not an option here, it is a must. They all need to have their space, that is the key to keeping these guys happy. They are hardy eaters and not too picky. Plenty of hiding places and sight breaks and good filtration will ensure success if keeping a community tank of similar species. Add them all together and let them grow together. And keep your hands out when they spawn or you will get bitten. :)
kevin j.

View the full article
